About Trey Mitchell
Trey was born on August 17, 1989 in Houston, Texas. His first “car” was a red Power Wheels Jeep from Santa for his 2nd Christmas. By his third birthday, Trey was setting new Power Wheels speed records in the alleys (and more than one street) between the “Row” houses in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. A few years late, while on a summer vacation, Trey spent his entire four days in the Great Smokey Mountains racing at NASCAR Speed Park, even sending his family to Dollywood without him so that he could remain at the track.

Throughout his youth, Trey played various traditional sports, with baseball being his favorite. Trey always had the need for speed and by age 14 the racing bug succeeded in digging its' teeth in and Trey decided to give racing a serious try. His parents agreed that if he earned straight A's they would talk about buying a race car and that was all the motivation necessary. He brought home straight A's and the rest is history.

Mitchell's first racing endeavor was late in the 2004 season in the Allison Legacy Series. He showed tremendous talent after only a very short time, setting the track record at Red River Speedway for fastest qualifying time and earning Most Improved Driver for the 2004 season. In the 2005 season, he earned Lone Star Legacy Rookie of the Year Honors and finished the season third in points. In 2006, Trey moved up to the USRA Modified Series. Trey will be the first to tell you that the season had its ups and downs; however near midpoint of the racing season the TMR team began to experience more consistent top 5 finishes. Not to be one to break a winning streak, Mitchell once again took Rookie of the Year honors in the USRA Modified Series and won a race at San Antonio Speedway. The 2007 season saw three wins, along with four second place finishes, in 12 starts. The TMR 47 Pro Modified was challenging for the HMP Track Championship until a wreck effectively ended the season.

Trey is a great young man with a good reputation, both on and off the track. He maintained a 3.0 grade average while at Wimberley High School and was selected to serve as a mentor in his school's Peer Assistance Leadership program. His racing success earned him recognition by Austin's Channel 8 as their High School Athlete of the Week and he was also awarded Austin's KXAN 36 Scholar Athlete of the Week. A Flagman at San Antonio Speedway pulled Trey aside following a race in 2006 and stated, “ I've been involved with racing for many years and I think that of all the drivers in Texas, you have the best shot to make it to NASCAR.”
Following High School graduation in 2007, 17 year old Trey moved to Charlotte, NC to attend college, race his family owned Late Model and pursue his dream of winning a Sprint Cup championship.
In early 2008 the Trey Mitchell Racing team joined with legendary racer and crew chief Freddie Query, moving its' operation from Texas to Query's Mooresville, North Carolina shop. Mitchell made numerous starts in 2008 with a number of different series. The objective of this season was to familiarize the recently transplanted Texan with new racetracks and competition. Mitchell again ran part-time with the Viper series, ASA Southeast Asphalt Tour, and the Pro All-Stars Series where he posted impressive runs at many tracks throughout the Southeast.

In 2009 the team has focused its attack on the PASS South Series along with various other Super Late Model races across the nation. In 6 starts in Pro All Stars Competition in 2009, Trey reeled in 3- top 5's, and 5-top 10's, with two podium finishes in arguably the most competitive short track series in the country.

Gary Crooks took over as crew chief of the #47 in 2010 as he and Mitchell chased the Pro All Stars Series Title. Despite missing one of the events after a mechanical failure in qualifying, Mitchell and team ended the season 5th in points (out of 94 drivers) following numerous Top-10 runs.
The 2011 Season opened at the famed North Wilkesboro Speedway for the $100,000-TO-WIN event. Dubbed “The Race” by PASS Officials, the event drew close to 90 cars trying to qualify for 30 spots. Mitchell and team reached their goal of qualifying for “The Race” and raced side-by-side with names like Sterling Marlin and Geoff Bodine. Bad Luck would plague the #47 Mangum's Oilfield Services throughout the latter part of 2011, with multiple promising runs soured by everything from flat-tires to bizarre on track incidents.

In 2012, the Trey Mitchell Racing team will continue to run select Pro All Stars Series events such as the Easter Bunny 150 and the All-American 400 at the legendary Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. When he's not racing his familiar #47, Mitchell will step in the Innovative Suspensions dirt Super Late Model for select events.

Trey also continues his academic activities as a Junior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he completes an average of 12 to 13 hours per semester, while spending 40 plus hours per week at his race shop, working on his cars and honing his racing skills.
